Dear Subscriber,  Guided Foraging Trips and a New Wild Mushoom Book

Hello Fellow Fungi Fan!

I am please to say we will soon be able to provide guided wild food foraging trips for wild mushrooms and other wild edibles. I am hoping to be able to send information out in the next few weeks so if it is of interest to you... please keep your eyes peeled for another email from us.

Also - with it nearly being Christmas, I though I would send you a couple of links for two books, one I have read and is superb, the other is brand new and available for pre-order. It's always great when a new wild mushroom book comes out. The more books you have for cross referencing the better!

So if you are stuck for present ideas or you want to treat yourself,  these two may fit the bill:

Wild Food (excellent book for all wild food)
Wild Mushrooms new! pre-order-order

Hi, I am just wondering what is the best pocket sized book for in the field when hunting mushrooms? I am just after a detailed diagrammed book, for identification, and not bothered too much about the cooking aspect, Thanks John

Wild Mushroom Identification - Recommended Books for All Skill Levels:
Every amateur mycologist should have a decent library of books, here are the top five books I highly recommend for wild mushroom identification:

1) Field Guide to Edible Mushrooms of Britain and Europe (Field Guides)  - Great layout with superb images - Peter Jordan
3) Mushrooms: A comprehensive guide to mushroom identification  - This one is a proper belter with loads and loads of good technical data - Roger Phillips
4) Complete Mushroom Book: The Quiet Hunt   - A lovely book by a lovely man. Antonio Carluccio
5) Mushrooms: River Cottage Handbook No.1 - Always a favourite from Hugh's fungi specialist friend, John Wright

It is important to have at least 3 books so you can cross reference and cover as many species as possible
