I built the orginal site about 6 years or so agaon from a passion that started when I went on a foraging trip in Hampshire with a Ranger who was an expert. I wish I still knew his details so I could thank him for sparking in me what has been an exciting learning curve into the world of fungi.
Since that time, my site has become one of the largest in the UK for wild mushroom information (a fact I am very proud of) and it has taken me on several journeys - I dare say the journeys are not over yet!. For example, in the last 12 months, I have appeared on BBC Radio Somerset talking about how to forage, I was asked to appear in a series on BBC2 about wild mushroom hunting, I have had my content quoted in several broadsheets and I have made many new contacts all over the world who regularly send me pictures of wild mushrooms for help in identification - and also for general interest. Some of those photos are listed on the site.
It is my aim to populate the site from all over the world with stories and information - the site is mainly UK focussed but being as I get emails from so many other countries, it seems right to extend the reach of the site to benefit others.
many people ask me if I can organise foraging trips - I have considered it and may do so at some point. Hoever, in the meantime I have created a new section where you can meet and communicate with other people who want to have a forgaing companion. It is always a very good idea to team up as you find more and can share the fun of identification. It also make a great day out with new friends.
Please help me grow this site by posting your stories and photos - no matter how little you know, please still post what you have found and myself and others will see if we can identify them for you - and hopefully the stories will be informative for others and keep the site fresh
I also part own ukoffer.com where you can look for great discounts sales and vouchers - you may even find discounted wild mushroom books here - use the search facility to check and search for "wild mushrooms"
I live in north Hampshire and have found many areas where wild mushrooms grow in profusion. Sometimes where you least expect. One of my best finds was in my drive way would you believe! an early Morel.
