wildmushroomonline.co.uk Meet Other Foragers

Welcome to a new feature on WMO

I get lots of people email me and ask if I know of anyone in their area who they can go forgaing with for wild mushrooms. I decided that a facility to allow other fungi fans to meet up and share knowledge, tips and locations with would be through an online community.

The "Meet Other Foragers" facility is designed for you to post your stories, also to post photos so fellow readers can help in identification of your wild mushroom finds. The posting boards are also there so you can meet others  who you may wish to team up with on a foraging trip.  People can contact you via a private "contact me" button so your email address is kept hidden.

Please upload your pictures and stories using the button below.

I have added to my post of 29th August but I don't think it's showing up. The mushrooms in my garden have now grown to about 18cms across & 9 cms high. There is a definite ring on the stem and the gills are brown. I have tapped them but haven't found any trace of spores. I haven't cut any more y

Follow up on the previous post. I went out this evening to check out the horse mushrooms that I had identified in my previous post. Some of them now have a cracked grey surface (first picture). I brought a few home and then had the bejesus scared out of me when the stems turned yellow at the ba

Hi, I posted a few days ago but didn't seem to catch anybodies eye so I thought I would make a second appeal. (Originally I had intended to save on server space and just link back to the original post, but, quite sensibly, the board refuses posts that include links, so it'll have to be the long

I live on a smallholding on which we are developing woodland. Some of our trees are some 30 years plus, while others are only entering their 8th year or so. We have a large variety of funghi in the wooded areas and I am particularly keen to know more about them. Unfortunately, the more I re

I found some wonderful Amethyst Deceivers yesterday on the woodland walks at Alice Holt in Hampshire. My books says these are ok to eat - are they good to eat? I also found this orange specimen - can anyone tell me what it is please?

Hi all, I was hoping someone could help me towards identifying these mushrooms. I found them in my local woods in amongst several different trees including oak, pine, hawthorn & hazel, sizes range from appx 3-15cm (cap) & 5-20cm (stem), flesh is white, turning slightly pinkish when cut. The ones

Hi I have tried to use my 'collins gem' mushroom book to id these but have been really struggling to pin it down. Unfortunately the local kids have now kicked all but a few out of the ground. They are growing in grass just under some trees in open parkland. The photos are all of the same crop,
